Axonometric Drawings

One of the most interesting courses I took in graduate school was called Construction Technology. The premise was deceptively simple: instead of designing a building from scratch, we'd use construction documents to "build" the building - just as a contractor does. I produced the drawings - line by line and without 3D modeling - in AutoCAD using photos and the CD set. It was one of most complex and fascinating classes I've ever taken. I produced the first two axonometric drawings - Croffead House and Kitsap County Administrative Building - that were produced line by line in AutoCAD (no 3D modeling) using photos and the CD set. The last drawing applies a similar process to a children's museum that I was designing. I used structural analysis software (SAP2000) to design the space frame, Grasshopper (a plugin for Rhino) to parametrically design the brick facade and hours of AutoCAD.
